QR codes are used extensively in Japan in a daily basis to deliver mobile content.
At “i-nigma” website you may download a reader and also generate your own QR codes.
Here it is two QR codes … can you figure out what are they for ?
No Japão os códigos QR são utilizados diariamente para disponibilização de conteúdos em telemóveis.
Através do site da “i-nigma” podemos instalar um “reader” no telemóvel e também gerar códigos.
Ora aqui estão dois códigos … vejam lá se descobrem para onde são ??
Security issues on “Flash Player 10″ and “Adobe Reader”Falhas de segurança no “Flash Player 10″ e no “Adobe Reader”

All those plugins that we use on our browsers run over a Sandbox for security purposes … but what if those sandbox have major flaws?
Last 24th February, Adobe released a security bulletin about some serious security issues:
“A potential vulnerability has been identified in Adobe Flash Player 10.0.12.36 and earlier that could allow an attacker who successfully exploits this potential vulnerability to take control of the affected system. A malicious SWF must be loaded in Flash Player by the user for an attacker to exploit this potential vulnerability. Additional vulnerabilities have been addressed in this update. Adobe recommends users update to the most current version of Flash Player available for their platform.”
Ok, we are used to this drill … security patch for Windows, security patch for Firefox, security patch for this and that … but when the “s**t hit the fan” we start to realise that this is REAL !! Sourcefire also mention flaws on “Adobe Reader”, the famous PDF reader.
Well … enough said, time to update my players !!Eis que a Sandbox que todos julgavam proteger as nossas RIA’s e mesmos as “Standalone Apps”, tem falhas graves !!
No passado dia 24 de Fevereiro, a Adobe através de um boletim de segurança informou da existência de uma falha:

Ok, até aqui nós já estamos habituados … patchs de segurança para o Windows, patchs para o Firefox, patchs para isto e para aquilo…mas quando surgem notícias de empresas de segurança como a Sourcefire a mencionar que essas falhas são reais e que alguém faz uso delas…ahhh, aqui já estamos noutra realidade. Segundo a Sourcefire, também existe falhas de segurança no “Adobe Reader”, o famoso leitor de PDFs.
Bem…chega de escrita, vou actualizar os meus players !!

Well, is not exactly a TV channel … more a kind of videocasts like those on AdobeTV or Microsoft’s Channel9. Currently I am in final preparations for launch.
- What can I expect to find?
The channel will work with tutorials, and within my area of Flash, Silverlight and PHP, but I’m willing to have help for other subjects.
- And will it be just tutorials?
“Just tutorials?”…errr, calm down it will also include interviews with designers and developers who professionally use the technologies in daily basis. It’s important to show that all those tutorials really have an implementation fase.
- Will it be in Portuguese?
Ahh … here is the big question! Of course it will be in Portuguese because in English the web is loaded. However I will add a caption for subtitles in English. If ever arise such question, then we will change it….. but only if necessary.
For now, I would like to have feedback concerning subjects for tutorials, interviews or other topics … this project is not to be mine, but ours!
If you would like to participate, please let me know.
I will be waiting for feedback before we launch the “episode zero”.Bem, não é propriamente um canal de TV…mais uma rúbrica do género que se encontra na AdobeTV ou no Channel9 da Microsoft. Neste momento encontro-me nos últimos preparativos para o lançamento.
- O que podem encontrar no canal?
O canal irá funcionar com tutoriais, sendo os meus dentro da área de Flash, Silverlight e PHP; mas conto com a ajuda de pessoal de outras áreas para termos maior oferta.
- E só contamos com tutoriais?
Se forem só tutoriais também já não nos poderiamos queixar. Tenciono incluir também pequenas entrevistas a designers e developers que utilizam as tecnologias profissionalmente no seu dia-a-dia. Além de se apresentar como se faz, é importante se mostrar que de facto se utiliza na vida real.
- Serão em Português?
Ahh…aqui está a grande questão!!! É CLARO que vão ser em português, pois em inglês está a web carregadinha. No entanto irei acrescentar um “caption” para legendas em inglês. No entanto se alguma vez surgir a questão da língua, então poder-se-á alterar, passando a ser em inglês com legendas em português…..mas só se existir necessidade.
Para já gostava de saber de ideias para tutoriais, entrevistas ou rubricas…o canal não é para ser só meu, mas sim nosso!!
Quem quiser participar, também basta dizê-lo.
Fico a espera de algum feedback antes de se lançar o “episódio piloto”.
Microsoft DevDays 2009 – The AftermathMicrosoft DevDays09 – O Rescaldo

Microsoft’s DevDays ended yesterday and after a day to consider my performance in all sessions that I presented, I think I passed the test.
Speaking in public wasn’t a new thing to myself I had some good opportunities before, however neither one had this magnitude.
It was very interesting working as an evangelist for Microsoft Blend2 and the feedback was encouraging.
There are several companies using Blend to develop layouts for Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), and slowly make the bridge to the web development with Silverlight.
Such events also supports “Social Networking” and I was pleased to speak with employees of Microsoft, Fullsix, MagicBox among others and also with “Microsoft Student Partners, university students from around the country.
Certainly worth the trip, I hope to have more opportunities like that!
O DevDays terminou ontem e, após um dia a ponderar as minhas prestações nas diversas sessões que apresentei, penso que tenho saldo positivo.

Falar em público em si não foi novidade, pois em diversas situações tive essa oportunidade, mas nunca num evento deste peso. Foi muito interessante “evangelizar” sobre o Microsoft Blend2, e o feedback foi promissor. Existem várias empresas a utilizar o Blend para desenvolvimento de layouts para aplicações Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), e aos poucos a fazerem ponte para o desenvolvimento web com o Silverlight.
Este tipo de eventos também favorece o “Social Networking” e foi com agrado que privei durante alguns momentos com funcionários da Microsoft, Fullsix, MagicBox entre outras e também com “Microsoft Student Partners”, alunos universitários de todo o país.
Sem dúvida que valeu a pena. Venham de lá mais oportunidades destas !!

Microsoft Mix09 – Sessions updateMicrosoft Mix09 – actualização de sessões

The countdown has begun for the Mix09, missing about a month.
Prior sessions list was already huge for only three days of event, however an update was announced.
Previously, I had counted about 14 sessions of major interest, now it has become a Herculean job to manage a efficient schedule that would allow me to attend the most sessions, but what matters is that I will be there!
Check the updated agenda here.A contagem decrescente para o Mix09 já começou, falta cerca de um mês e, apesar da lista de sessões já ser consideravelmente extensa para somente três dias de evento, é então que surge uma actualização (!!)
Se anteriormente já tinha contabilizado cerca de 14 sessões que me interessavam, agora tornou-se um trabalho hercúleo conseguir idealizar uma agenda que me permita assistir ao máximo de sessões, enfim…interessa é que estarei lá !!

Microsoft DevDays09 will take place next 18th and 19th of February, at the “Instituto Superior Técnico – Campus do TagusPark”.
I was listed has a speaker for some “HandsOn Labs” about Microsoft Expression Blend. I have to say to Flag-Lisboa thank you for the opportunity.
The HOLS structure isn’t finished yer, however I will post them soon as possible.
Show up, the price of the event is just 100€ and the sessions are worthwhile!O Microsoft DevDays09 ir-se-á realizar nos próximos dias 18 e 19 de Fevereiro, no Instituto Superior Técnico Campus do TagusPark.
