Microsoft Vs Adobe – the sequelMicrosoft Vs Adobe – a continuação

I would call it “investment”, and there isn’t anything wrong with it.
Until the Adobe’s employee Duane Nickull stated, and I quote:
“Disclosure: I do work for Adobe and yes – we have paid people to do Flash projects for various reasons.”
Finally someone states that Adobe and Microsoft are playing with the same weapons.Já aqui tinha referido que a CNN, MSNBC, e o “Presidential Inaugural Comittee” utilizaram a tecnologia Silverlight para a transmição em directo de vídeo.
“Disclosure: I do work for Adobe and yes – we have paid people to do Flash projects for various reasons.”

Who is behind the Microsoft’s Web R&D?Quem está por detrás da I&D Web da Microsoft?
Jan 20th
Microsoft has launched in 2006 a team to “research & develop” technology for the Web and called them “Microsoft Live Labs“.
The technologies currently in R&D are: (site transcription)
A single place to save or share the stuff you want from all around the web.
It’s easier than sending a bunch of links in an e-mail, or setting several favorites in your browser. Thumbtack simplifies the process of saving and sharing photos, links, text and more.
Smooth, seamless browsing of vast quantities of visual information, on wall sized displays or mobile devices, regardless of the amount of data.
Secure dynamic web applications through virtualization.
Modern Web pages are made up of different pieces that may be served from different locations–maps, mashups, ads and more. But what happens if some of those pieces slow page performance or even endanger users’ personal information? That’s where the Web Sandbox comes in.
Automatically reconstruct a three-dimensional space from a collection of photos of a place or an object.
Whether sharing or reliving a vacation destination or exploring a distant museum or landmark, Photosynth transforms regular digital photos into a three-dimensional, 360-degree experience with a digital camera and your own creativity and inspiration.
Social Streams is a Live Labs project whose mission is to aggregate, store and mine all socal media content.
Using machine learning to identify meaningful text in documents, we can turn the unstructured web into a rich set of tagged documents.
Restaurant reviews… Business addresses… People’s Names… Phone numbers… Product descriptions…
The web is overflowing with descriptive information, but most content is not yet linked with outside applications. Highlight a restaurant address on any website, get a popup map. Or a book title in a blog post for reviews and prices from around the web. Add names and phone numbers from any email or webpage to your contacts with one click. It’s all coming, and Entity Extraction is the enabling technology.

Jan 20th
Within a few hours the world will witness a historic achievement, the swearing in of President of the United States of America, Barack Obama.
To witness this, the “Presidential Inaugural Comittee“, will use the Silverlight technology on their website to display “live” and “on-demand” video. Broadcasts began last Saturday, during the journey of the then “President Elect” from Philadelphia to Washington DC. On the committee website you may see the ceremony live. More detailed information in the Microsoft’s Press-Release.
CNNand MSNBC will also use the Silverlight technology’s Photosynth, to deploy professional photographs and amateur photographs from the audience, mixing them to create a three-dimensional experience with DeepZoom.
FWA Sites of the Year 2008FWA Sites of the Year 2008
Jan 15th
“Favorite Website Awards” – FWA already selected the sites of the year 2008, but ultimately who is or what is the FWA?
FWA is a group of internet professionals, all with top positions in major companies or agencies.
In fact, FWA operates as a “certificate” of excellence for the websites developed, mostly with Adobe’s “Flash Platform” technology. Inside the judges group there are also some Adobe’s employees. Based in Hertfordshire – England, they already awarded 2,694 sites.
How to submit my website?
To compete simply submit the URL of the work and make a payment of 34.50 pounds, about 39 €. There is a special price for students and charity organizations – 11.50 pounds, about 13 €.
Who selects the winners?
However, at the end of the year there is an award called “People Choice Award” where all the FWA visitors may vote.
Any advantages of winning a FWA award?
“Site of the Year 2008” – EcoDaZoo
“People Choice Award 2008” -Hotel626
Diariamente é seleccionado um site – “Site of the Day”; no final da semana selecciona-se o melhor dos 7 “site of the day” e obtem-se o “Site of the Week”; ao final do mês temos o melhor dos 4 “site of the week” e obtemos o “Site of the Month”; e no final do ano temos o melhor dos 12 “site of the month” e obtemos o tão esperado – “SITE OF THE YEAR”.
“Site of the Year 2008” – EcoDaZoo
“People Choice Award 2008” -Hotel626
Visitem que valem a pena !!!
